|11th Annual Pancake Breakfast|
The Dousman Fire District will be holding its 11th Annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, October 14th starting at 8:00am and going until 12:00pm. Join us for an educational morning of fun and food! The following organizations and events are scheduled:
Money raised from this year’s pancake breakfast will go towards education, specifically tuition and related costs for Paramedic training, which costs approximately $6,000 per student.
The Dousman Fire District is currently licensed at the EMT-Intermediate Technician (EMT-IT) level, which allows us to perform additional medical interventions beyond the EMT-Basic level, such as IVs and administration of certain medications. With an increase in our coverage area in 2013 due to the expansion of our boundaries to include all of the Village of Summit, and the resulting increase in call volume, we feel that improving our level of service is a top priority.
As a result, we have set a goal of upgrading our level of service to Paramedic in 2014. By doing so we will be providing the highest level of pre-hospital care currently allowed by the State of Wisconsin. As a Paramedic level service, not only will we be able to perform all of the skills of an EMT-IT, but we also will be able to perform many other advanced medical interventions. Administration of medications for pain control and cardiac-related problems, procedures such as endotracheal intubation and needle decompression, and a better understanding of the pathophysiology behind diseases and trauma, are just a few of the benefits of upgrading our level of service to Paramedic.
If you are unable to attend our pancake breakfast, but would still like to help us in our efforts to upgrade our level of service to Paramedic, we would be very grateful for any monetary assistance you could provide.
