The Dousman Fire District is currently accepting applications for the following positions:
- Paid-on-Premise Firefighter/EMT-IT - Paid-on-premise eligibility list for current and anticipated openings. Standby rate is $7.25 per hour with an increase to $18.00-$20.00 per hour when on a call, depending on EMT certification. Participation in WRS is also authorized if the hour requirements are met. Minimum requirements for the position include a State of Wisconsin Firefighter I certificate, a current State of Wisconsin EMT-Intermediate Technician license, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Additional requirements include 21 years of age, high school diploma or GED, and possession of a valid driver's license with a good driving record. Applicants will be subject to a pre-employment physical and drug test, and a criminal background check. All applicants must provide copies of the above qualifications as well as copies requested in the application when submitting their completed packets.
Applications can be obtained at the Dousman Fire District located at 107 S. Main Street in Dousman or online. Applications may be picked up at the station Monday through Friday between the hours of 0600-1600.
Preference may be given to current Dousman Fire District personnel, applicants with both a Firefighter I certification and a current EMT license, applicants with a current State of Wisconsin Paramedic license, or additional education and/or experience.
The Dousman Fire District is a progressive and growing fire department located in southeastern Wisconsin with a yearly call volume of approximately 1,100. The Fire District provides fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to approximately 14,000 residents throughout 125 square miles in the Town of Concord, Village of Dousman, Town of Ottawa, Town of Sullivan, Village of Sullivan, and Village of Summit. The Dousman Fire District is currently licensed at the EMT-Intermediate Technician level, and will be increasing its service level to EMT-Paramedic in 2014.
